Privacy statement


Who are we?


The AfRi Practice Hub is an initiative by ECDPM with researchers from The Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance at the University of Cape Town. It is funded by the European Union under the Team Europe Technical Assistance Facility to Support the AfCFTA and Continental Economic Integration (EU-TAF).

ECDPM is the controller for data collected through the AfRi Practice Hub website. ECDPM is a leading independent think tank that wants to make policies in Europe and Africa work for inclusive and sustainable development. It has two offices – in Maastricht, the Netherlands and in Brussels, Belgium. ECDPM is a registered foundation at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (number: 41077447). Its registered address is Onze Lieve Vrouweplein 21, 6211 HE Maastricht, the Netherlands.

ECDPM’s privacy standards are in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which applies to all EU member states as of 25 May 2018.

What data do we collect on this website, and why?

Whom can I contact for privacy-related questions or requests?


You can contact Maud Joosten at privacy@ecdpm.org if you:

  • have questions about our privacy statement or the data we collect,
  • want to know what information we hold on you,
  • would like to obtain a copy of the information we hold on you,
  • would like us to update or remove your information from our system,
  • feel our grounds for processing your data are not legitimate and would like to object, or
  • want to report a data breach occurring at this website.

We will answer your requests for a copy, update or removal of data within 30 days of your request. Please note that we will take utmost care of deleting your details everywhere, but that we may need to keep some of your data in (parts of) our systems if we are legally obliged to or if other legal grounds apply, such as legitimate interests.

If you feel we haven’t adequately addressed your request to respect your privacy rights, or if you become aware that there is a data breach on our end, you may notify the Dutch Data Protection Authority. In case of a data breach, we would of course be happy if you would notify us too, by contacting privacy@ecdpm.org.

If we encounter a data breach on our end that poses a risk to the personal data we store, we must notify the Dutch Data Protection Authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of the data breach. In case the data breach poses a serious threat to the safety of your personal data, we will notify you too – provided the contact details we hold on you are correct and up-to-date.
